Discussion of whether to allow sidewalk use by a business has Calmar looking at territory that is not totally unique.

Instead, a variety of situations exist in the area.

St. Lucas and Hawkeye do not have any businesses currently engaged in sidewalk service, according to Dorty Yauslin, city clerk, by email July 3.

By contrast, Decorah does.

“Besides the Hotel Winneshiek, others include: T-Bock’s Bar and Grill and the Oneota Coop,” said city manager Chad Bird by email July 3.

A wide range of commercial use is possible there.
