Voting Time

With a matter of weeks to go before the election date, voting has already begun for the June 5 primary, according to an email, May 7, from the Iowa Secretary of State’s office.

Absentee ballots must be requested by May 25 by mail and must have a June 4 postmark with receipt in the county auditor’s office June 11 by noon, the email noted.

A single contested county race will be before voters down the road with incumbent Republican Floyd Ashbacher, of Decorah, serving District 2 of the County Board of Supervisors, going up against Melissa O’Rourke, a Democrat, of Decorah, according to information provided May 7 by Winneshiek County Auditor Ben Steines.
